  • BIOMEDICAL RESEARCH GROUP (BRG)

To understand the molecular and cellular processe underlying human health and translate into diagnostic and therapeutic applications. Our research involves interdisciplinary approaches to identify molecular disease markers and therapies.

Current research projects are related to immunology and microbial science, genetics and genomics, natural products, translational research, physiology and structural system.
  • MEDICAL IMAGING RESEARCH GROUP (MIRG)

Consists of radiographers and medical physicists, working in collaboration with other medical staff to provide scientific support for clinical imaging and to develop new imaging techniques.

Current research projects are related to computed tomography, Monte-Carlo simulation/modelling, detectors, nuclear imaging, neuroimaging, radiation therapy, magnetic resonance imaging, 3D printing in medicine
  • OBESITY AND CARDIOVASCULAR RESEARCH GROUP

Comprises of researchers from different background, ie. epidemiologist, nutritionist and detitian to tackle obesity and obesity-related problems with a special focus on urban poor population.
  • FUNCTIONAL FOODS RESEARCH GROUP

Comprises of researchers from food sciene and nutrition with a focus on food development from bioactive compounds with health claims. Current research project are related to the effects of functional foods on metabolic outcomes  such as glucose, insulin, cancer biomarkers and hypertension.
