SCHOOL OF REHABILITATION SCIENCES (PPSR)

School of Rehabilitation Sciences (PPSR) is one of the schools under Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FPSK), University of Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA). Formerly known as The Department of Physiotherapy, it was located at the UniSZA Kota Campus (2011) and was later shifted to UniSZA Gong Badak Campus (from May 2012).The management of UniSZA, upgraded the department to become a center of study offering Diploma in Physiotherapy at present. The proposal to offer the program was accepted in the meeting of Board of Directors (Mesyuarat Lembaga Pengarah) UniSZA on 18th September 2007, and it was later accepted in the meeting of Advisory Board of Program of Studies (Mesyuarat Lembaga Penasihat Pengajian Program) on 1 November 2007 and Senate meeting (Mesyuarat Senat) UniSZA on 24 September 2008. Diploma in Physiotherapy program was approved by KPT in Mesyuarat Jawatankuasa Pendidikan Tinggi Bil. 1/2009 on 3 February 2009. The first cohort of students for diploma in Physiotherapy was enrolled in June, 2011.

Staff

There are 7 qualified academic staffs and 5 non-academic staffs in the School of Rehabilitation Sciences (PPSR).


Students

At present we have 63 students under the diploma program. The first cohort (2011/2012) amounts to 20 students, the second cohort (2012/2013) amounts to 15 students and the third cohort (2013/2014) amounts to 28 students.


Facilities

The school is equipped with two laboratories;
- Electrotherapy laboratory and
- Therapeutic laboratory (Gymnasium).
with the latest equipment's for the students to enhance their practical skills and become competent.

Career Prospects

The students who graduate from our school have an opportunity to work in government and private hospitals, clinics, sports and fitness center, rehabilitation center, non-governmental organization (NGO) and community rehabilitation center. The qualified graduates are also able to pursue their studies in Bachelor (BSc), Master (MSc) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in local and international universities.
