STUDENT ACCOMMODATION

To create a comfortable learning environment for the students, the management has built four residence colleges. Three of these are located at the Gong Badak Campus, while the other is located at the Medical Campus. There are 38 blocks with a total of 2379 rooms at the Gong Badak Campus while at the Kota Campus there are two blocks with 44 rooms.On average, each room accommodates two students. This conducive environment allows ample space for both study and rest.

Overall, these 4 residence colleges can accommodate approximately 4,800 students. Cafeteria facilities are also provided for both the students and staff of Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin.

ACADEMIC FACILITIES

Academic facilities are given the utmost attention. Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin provides classrooms, tutorial rooms, seminar halls and workshop facilities that are conducive to the learning process. In addition, other facilities directly related to learning are also provided. These include a library, language labs, computer labs and other facilities commonly found in higher learning institutions in this country.

SPORTS & RECREATION

Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin has a multi-purpose gymnasium for sports such as badminton, squash, volleyball and general exercise. Facilities for other main sports include a hockey field, tennis courts, sepak takraw courts, archery fields and football fields among others. The Gong Badak Campus is located approximately four kilometers away from the Gong Badak Sports Complex which offers various sport facilities available for use.

LIBRARY

Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin has its main library building located at the Gong Badak Campus and can accommodate up to 300 users at a time. Capacity will increase once expansion work is completed. The library collection holds nearly 140,000 items including books, journals, magazines and newspapers. There is also a mini library at the Kota Campus.

To provide better service for users, the library collection is organsised as follows:

OTHER FACILITIES

There are over 50 student societies in a variety of fields where students develop skills in leadership, management, organisation and entrepreneurial spirit among others. At the same time, while studying at Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin students have the opportunity to receive scholarships or financial loans from not less that 20 institutions and agencies. These include PTPTN, MARA, Terengganu Foundation, Sabah Foundation, Johor Education Foundation, Kedah Islamic Foundation, Police Cooperative and more.

Facilities for religious worship both for students and the whole campus community is a priority. In line with this, the university has a mosque that can hold 3,5000 worshipers at any one time. A host of activities are regularly organised by the Islamic Centre and held at the mosque. These facilities are not only for university use, but play an important role in the development of the community outside campus as well. 

ATM facilities are also found on campus equipped with safe security from the Security Department in order to avoid unwanted accidents and also to provide a good level of campus security. 

The Counseling and Career Unit plays a role in ensuring students are able to balance their education and personal lives, as well as help the university produce quality graduates. Qualified counselors are appointed and act as a resource for students to ensure their problems are resolved in a confidential.

KUALA LUMPUR - (1-3hb Mac 2012) Seramai 35 orang pelajar dan staf pengiring telah mengikuti satu lawatan sambil belajar pelajar tahun akhir jurusan Diploma Teknologi Makmal Perubatan (DTMP - UniSZA) yang telah diadakan di Kuala Lumpur. Terdapat 2 tempat yang dikunjungi pelajar iaitu Pusat Darah Negara (PDN) dan Hospital Serdang.

Assalamualaikum w.b.t, 

A warm welcome to our new students and to those considering pursuing studies in health sciences in the future.  Thank you for having chosen to know more about us.

The Faculty of Health Sciences at the Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin is a one of the seven public universities in health science education and research in Malaysia. The faculty was created in 2015 and has its origin in the Faculty of Medicine which was established in 2006. 

Numerous programmes in dietetics, nutrition, biomedicine, medical radiation, radiography, physiotherapy and medical laboratory technology are offered at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Detailed information of the programmes can be obtained from the relevant schools. 

The faculty has a highly qualified complement of staff and represents the highest concentration of healthcare trainers in the region. Most of the academic staff are specialists in their fields many being internationally recognized. This is one of the factors that make the faculty the preferred institution for training of undergraduate and postgraduate students in healthcare. 

Our faculty continues to make many impressive contributions: we teach the next generation of leaders in health, we research critical health issues, and translate the solutions into community and clinical settings to improve health outcomes across society. 

We offer our students a vibrant study and extracurricular experience. I hope you will take up this challenge and join us for the truly transformational experience of an education in the health sciences, whether for the first time as an undergraduate, or continue to engage in a journey of lifelong learning as a postgraduate or higher degree research student with the faculty.

Brief History of Faculty Of Health Science

SEJARAH SEDEKAD FAKULTI SAINS KESIHATAN,
UNIVERSITI SULTAN ZAINAL ABIDIN
(2006 HINGGA 2016)

Pada tahun 2006, terdapat dua (2) penawaran program yang terlibat iaitu Diploma Radiografi dan Diploma Teknologi Makmal Perubatan di bawah Fakulti Perubatan dan Sains Kesihatan, Universiti Darul Iman (UDM) di Kampus Kota. Program ini mula diperkenalkan pada Julai 2006 dengan pengambilan pelajar yang pertama adalah seramai 23 orang pelajar setelah diberi kelulusan secara bertulis oleh Kementerian Pengajian Tinggi pada 23 Mei 2006. Manakala, Fakulti Sains Kesihatan (FSK), Universiti Darul Iman Malaysia (UDM) telah diperakukan kelulusan penubuhannya oleh Kementerian Pengajian Tinggi (KPT) pada 24 Januari 2007 dalam Mesyuarat Jawatankuasa Pendidikan Tinggi Bil 9/2006.

Setelah itu, program Ijazah Sarjanamuda Dietetik (Kepujian) telah ditawarkan pada tahun 2009 dengan pengambilan pelajar seramai 28 orang. Pada tahun 2011, program Diploma Fisioterapi telah turut ditawarkan untuk memenuhi keperluan Negara untuk melahirkan Jurupulih Anggota yang amat diperlukan kepada masyarakat. Sehingga sesi 2016/2017 (ambilan September 2016), terdapat tiga (3) program baharu yang ditawarkan di Fakulti Sains Kesihatan iaitu ISM Sains Bioperubatan (Kepujian), ISM Sains Pemakanan (Kepujian) & ISM Pengimejan Perubatan (Kepujian).

Pada Januari 2015, berlaku penstrukturan semula fakulti dan tertubuhnya Fakulti Sains Kesihatan di Kampus Gong Badak. Kini, FSK mempunyai empat (4) buah pusat pengajian iaitu Pusat Pengajian Pemakanan & Dietetik, Pusat Pengajian Bioperubatan, Pusat Pengajian Pengimejan Perubatan (Kepujian) dan Pusat Pengajian Sains Rehabilitasi. Bilangan staf terkini di FSK adalah seramai 99 orang. Hal ini merangkumi staf akademik yang aktif seramai 44 orang, staf bukan akademik seramai 41 orang, staf cuti belajar seramai 13 orang dan staf yang bercuti tanpa gaji seorang. Bilangan staf akademik yang telah mempunyai Ijazah Doktor Falsafah adalah seramai 24 orang dengan nilai sebanyak 54.5%.

Pengurusan di FSK adalah diterajui oleh Dekan. Dekan FSK yang pertama adalah Prof. Dr. Ab Fatah bin Ab Rahman yang memegang jawatan daripada tahun 2015 hingga 2016. Manakala, Dekan FSK yang kedua adalah Prof. Dr. Sakinah binti Harith yang sedang memegang jawatan ini bermula tahun 2017 sehingga sekarang.

Visi FSK adalah menjadi satu pusat kecemerlangan akademik melahirkan ahli kesihatan profesional yang holistik. Manakala misi FSK adalah melahirkan graduan sains kesihatan yang berperadaban dan berkemahiran selari dengan keperluan komuniti melalui kecemerlangan akademik dan penyelidikan.

Graduan yang telah dikeluarkan oleh FSK adalah seramai 129 orang yang merupakan graduan Ijazah Sarjanamuda Dietetik (Kepujian) bermula dari tahun 2013. Manakala graduan Diploma Radiografi seramai 164 orang, Diploma Teknologi Makmal Perubatan seramai 173 orang dan Diploma Fisioterapi seramai 80 orang. Secara keseluruhan, terdapat 546 orang telah bergraduat sebagai alumni Fakulti Sains Kesihatan sehingga tahun 2017. Profesion pekerjaan untuk bidang Sains Kesihatan adalah melibatkan masyarakat terutamanya pesakit di hospital atau klinik kesihatan. Contoh profesion yang dikeluarkan oleh FSK adalah Pegawai Dietetik, Pegawai Pemakanan, Pegawai Sains (Bioperubatan), Pegawai Pengimejan Perubatan, Jurupulih Anggota, Juruteknologi Makmal Perubatan dan Juru X-Ray.
